Your Body Belongs to the Lord
Some things may not be forbidden in scripture, but it doesn't mean those things are good for you. There are some things, whether one be a born-again believer or not, that should not be toyed with or recommended for anyone. Why? because some things have the ability to bring one into captivity to them, or rather become addictive to them. Everyone's level of tolerance is different and because you may never know how much of a thing can be tolerated before it brings you into captivity to them they should be off limits to you. As a born-again believer one is to be mindful as to what he indulges in because certain things may lead one's soul away from God. Our bodies and souls are inseparable "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 AMP
Present Yourself as a Living Sacrifice
"Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]. Romans 12:1-2 AMP
