"......the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, let everyone that name the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work (2 Timothy 2:19-21)
Purge Yourself
To purge is to get rid of something suddenly. In a spiritual sense it is to remove oneself from impure things; have no part in it.
Is a little Iniquity too Much?
Yes! There is no such thing as a little sin. In God's eyes a sin is a sin. Anything that will separate you from God is a trap for your soul. Don't believe the lie that a little of this and a little of that is all in fun. "A little leaven leavens the whole lump (Galatians 5:9). What starts off as a little fun will become a snare which will slowly but surely destroy you. "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempt he any man: but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death (James 1:13-15). The things that cause us to stray are not of God, but from Satan. .Jesus said, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). The things that entangle us can take but a short time to do so. However, it may take much longer to become loosed once sin sets in.
Which Vessel are You?
The scripture tells us that one will either be a vessel of honor or dishonor. The only way to be a vessel of honor is to depart from sin. That's not to say you will be sinless, but to willingly sin is handing yourself over to Satan. The Lord knows them that are His and urges us to depart from iniquity (2 Timothy 2:19). "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:31). Return to the Truth. The truth is that God is Holy and so we must be also (1 Peter 1:16). Repent! Get back on course. Ask the Lord for help. He will help you. He knows your heart. "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
