Can You Tame Your Own Tongue?

"Now if we put the horses’ bridles into their mouths that they may obey us, we turn about their whole body also. Behold, the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, are yet turned about by a very small rudder, whither the impulse of the steersman will. The tongue also is a little member and boasts great things. Behold, how much wood is kindled by how small a fire! And the tongue is a fire: the world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the wheel of nature, and is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beasts and birds, of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind: but the tongue can no man tame; it is a restless evil, it is full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we the Lord and Father; and therewith curse we men, who are made after the likeness of God: out of the same mouth cometh forth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be (James 3:3-10). Are Your Words Always Pleasing to God? God wants every part of us to be put under submission to Him. He is truly the only One Who can help us. It all starts in the heart ".....for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man out of his good treasure bringeth forth good things: and the evil man out of his evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. And I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned (Matthew 12:34-37). Don't let Your Words Come Back to Haunt You God's Word tells us that we will be held accountable for every idle word in the day of judgement (Matt. 12:37). It all starts in the heart. We cannot harbor sin in our hearts and hope that what's in our hearts never come out of our mouths. Even if we practice saying nice things, it's only a matter of time that the true nature of our hearts will come out in our actions; everything we say will be contrary to what we do. We may be able to fool one another for a bit, but we cannot fool God. Discern your own heart; examine yourself. Let go of anger, bitterness, jealousy and like. Leave no stone unturned. Get to the root of your issue. Own your stuff. Blessing and cursing shouldn't be a thing that we as professed children of God do. Ask God to help you to 'let the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be acceptable in His sight (psalm 19:14). That is, on one accord. Ask Him to 'create in you a clean heart and to renew a right spirit within you (Psalm 51:10). If you are sincere with that prayer, God's Holy Spirit will clean you. Allow Him to. Don't worry about what anyone thinks of you after you mess up. As long as you repent and get right with God, His opinion and thoughts are all that matters. Then you can truly say, "I will bless Jehovah at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth (Psalm 34:1). Only God can do it. Jesus paid it all. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow. Have a blessed stress-free worry-free day on purpose, and never stop believing. Bible.com
