“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:13-16).
No Flavor No Value
Salt is used for many purposes i.e. flavoring food, preserving meats, as a tenderizer etc.. Jesus said that we (born again believers) are the salt of the earth, but what good is it to have seasoning without flavor? (Vs. 13). As Christians (Believers) we must not lose our flavor. It is the ability God gave us, through His Holy Spirit, to make a difference in the world. We are decaying everyday. If we make no effort as born again believers to affect the world around us, we are 'good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men (Vs.13). Just as salt brings out the best flavors in food, we are to allow God's Holy Spirit to use us to bring out the best in those we interact with.
Shine Your Light
This world is growing darker and darker. "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil (John 3:19). Your faith in God must go public. We can not hide our light. To hide our light is to deny Christ in front of men. That's not something God takes lightly. Jesus said,..."whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven (Matthew 10:33). When we go along with the crowd, we hide our light. Don't hide your light. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven
