God Is A Forgiving God

Our God is a forgiving God. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:19)). All we have to do is ask for forgiveness with a sincere remorseful heart; contrite spirit. We must be truly remorseful of sinning against God.

Asking For Forgiveness

Asking for forgiveness can be hard when we operate in self pride. The only way we can avoid or rather rid ourselves of self pride is to do what God says, "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you (1 Peter 5:6-7). God wants to forgive us. We need to be patient as He is patient with us. He may not come when we want Him to but he'll always be on time. "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.(2 Peter 3:9). We must be careful to remember, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it (1 Corinthians 10:13). Gods knows what's in our heart. We must be truthful in our confessions. God loves the sinner but hates the sin. There is no shame in sin. The shame is when you know that you have sinned and refuse to repent and or ask for forgiveness.

Be Careful To Be Obedient

I recently confessed to my brothers and sisters about being tired about a situation that I was going through. The brethren chastised me in the Word, and, although I sat still and listened, I became angry. I am a student, and teacher, of the Word of God, but it was revealed to me by the Spirit of God that I don't always practice what I preach. God showed me that I had slowly, but surely, moved from being a doer of the Word to a hearer only, which is a dangerous sin before God. "...faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed (James 1: 22-25). Thank God He didn't allow me to die while in my sin.

Don't Get Too Comfortable

When we become comfortable or rather complacent; pleased, especially with oneself or one's merits, advantages, situation, etc., often without awareness of some potential danger or defect; self-satisfied, we deceive ourselves. I had to ask the Lord to forgive me for complaining and murmuring, because it is Him only that I have sinned against. He is the one Who searches the heart of man with the Power to save the soul to Heaven, or condemn it to Hell. God reminded me about the fate of the Israelites due to murmuring and complaining; unbelief. "And the LORD'S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed [died] (Numbers 32:13).

I admonish you who have been saved by God's Grace and Loving Mercy, not to become complacent as if you have already obtained the crown of glory promised us if our faith remains. For those who haven't made a decision as whether or not to follow Christ, understand that choosing not to decide is choosing not to follow. Heaven or Hell are the choices. I thank God for the brethren that reminded me of the error of complaining, and for God's Holy Spirit allowing me to hear.

Be Honest with Yourself. More importantly, Be honest with God, Be Humble, and Obedient because In the End Nothing Else Matters. Your Choices are A Matter of life or Death. Be Encouraged, Stay Faithful, and Never Stop Believing!
