"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18). One must be redeemed in order to discern spiritual things. It was on the Cross that Jesus paid the price for our sin.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). One must believe. The scripture tells us in Romans 10:9-10" ... If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. So, redemption is a gift from God which is received by placing your faith in what Jesus Christ did on the Cross.
The Power of the Cross Draws One to Christ
Jesus said "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself. This He said, signifying by what death He would die (John 12:32-33). Jesus was lifted up on the Cross. One must put his faith in Jesus' finished work on the Cross and believe "...It is finished! (John 19:30). The law fulfilled. keep a simple childlike faith in Jesus and His finished work on the Cross. God's grace is sufficient His Holy Spirit will help you (2 Corinthians 12:9).
The Power of the Cross Can Change Men's Hearts
Ask God to "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, The God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise (Psalm 51:10-17). He can, if you will.
The Power of the Cross Redeems
"In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him (Ephesians1:7-10). Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works (Titus 2:14).
The Power of the Cross Brings Peace
"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God (Romans 5:1-2).
