The Mess that You get Yourself into Won't Look Like One

Updated: Dec 23, 2022

First, how did You Get Here?

The subtitle question is one for the masses. The answer to the question is disobedience. That's how, you and me, we got here in this mess. Disobedience to who you ask. To God that's who. He is Who many of us cannot stay focused on no matter how much He has done. He sent His Son to die for us (John 3:16) yet we can't seem to get enough of our messy place. We need to come out from here.

At First Glance

I know it doesn't look like a mess to you. Not at first glance anyway. I can admit it didn't look like a mess to me either. Yet it was a mess. Well, now you're here like you've been before. The reason you know you've been here before is because the end result is always the same. Although this mess maybe different in type, all messes, without fail, render the same results i.e., shame, guilt, unworthiness, depression and the like. So how do you come out?

Which Way is Out?

I know there were so many doors that lead you here into this your mess but there is only One that will lead you out. Jesus is the door. He is the Way (John 14:6), your way our way, out of the messes that we find ourselves in; that we put ourselves in. God will build you up again. he will turn your gladness into mourning. God will (Jeremiah 31:4,13). Repent! Turn around and run back to your first true love (Revelations 2:5).

Find You Strength

Find your strength through praise. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow. Praise Him for His gift of life through Christ Jesus. Praise Him for His Holy Spirit still living inside you. Praise God for His Mercy endures forever. "Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: Praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: Praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: Praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: Praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals:

Praise him upon the high-sounding cymbals. Let everything that hath breath

Praise the LORD (Psalm 150). Now don't look back again. Keep pressing toward the mark. You, we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).

Delve into God's Word

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenæus and Philetus; who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. Nevertheless, the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, let everyone that confesses the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart (2 Timothy 2:15-22).
