Knowledge, Understanding, and Application Go Hand and Hand

"Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.” Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many. I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life. Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of evil. Avoid it, do not travel on it; Turn away from it and pass on (Proverbs 4:5-15).

Knowledge Understanding and Application Go Hand and Hand

I remember the days when I had to go for my very first job and the interviewer would say that I was not qualified for a lack of experience. My reply would always be how can I get experience without being given a chance. Of course, that was never the problem of the interviewer as he or she would say 'I am sorry'. It was then that I understood I needed to volunteer somewhere to at least show I have some kind of firsthand experience besides just knowing. This is why many fields or trades have internships in order that you apply the knowledge which helps you to better understand through you having your own firsthand experience. Only then, along with references, can an employer know that you have not only an understanding of the task you are about to take on, but the experience as well to fulfil it. So, you see wisdom, understanding, and application go hand and hand. The Holy Bible was God breathed and written for us in order that we not only gain the knowledge of who He is, but that we learn through application of what He teaches to experience His love, understand His heart, plans, and His purpose for our lives' firsthand. We can only get the experience by applying the knowledge.

Oh, Taste and See

"Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! (Psalm 34:8). God is inviting us to put His Word to the test. Only then can we see and understand for a surety that God is Who he says He is. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3;16). Have faith in what Jesus did on the Cross. "..He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5). Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding (Proverbs4:7). God's Word helps one, whosoever will believe, to endure till the end. It is the only truth that transcends time and crosses all cultural barriers with the power to change one's entire being. "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does (James 1;22-25). Get into God's Word, learn it, understand it, apply it, you shall experience it.
