Knowing is One Thing but Wisdom makes the Difference

"....take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel [above the door] of the houses in which they eat it. (Exodus 12:7)

Knowing is Half the Battle

Knowing is having the facts. Wisdom is applying those facts.

Apply the Blood to the Doorframes

Applying the blood of a lamb on the doorframes of the homes during Passover was an annual event for the Israelites to remember and honor the night when the Lord passed over their homes. It was the night when every firstborn son of every family who did not apply the blood, as instructed, died. The blood of the lamb was a sign to God that the houses which applied the blood, and those in them, where to be protected; passed over by the death angel.

The Lamb of God

Just as in times of antiquity the Israelites had to apply the blood we too are to apply the blood. Jesus is the Lamb of God. “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him (John 3:16-17). He was sent by God to pardon our sins. "..He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Anyone who accepts God's free gift of life by His Grace through Faith will live and not die. When God sees the blood of His Son Jesus on us, our lives will be spared. We must apply the Blood.

How does One Apply The Blood?

The Israelites were instructed to slaughter a young lamb -One without any defects- and apply its blood to the doorframes. We apply the blood of Jesus through our Faith in what He did for us on the Cross. He is the Lamb of God One without spot or blemish. We must eat; read and study, God's Word daily in order that it may continually renew our minds and change our hearts so that we may serve Him accordingly. That is to say we don't stop at just knowing what the Word says, we apply it. Applying the blood is an act of faith which prepares God's children for the fulfillment of His promises.

Wait on the Lord Don't Sleep

“So be alert [give strict attention, be cautious and active in faith], for you do not know which day [whether near or far] your Lord is coming (Matthew 24:42). “But of that [exact] day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son [in His humanity], but the Father alone (Matthew 24:36).

Be Ready so You don't have to Get Ready

“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish [thoughtless, silly, and careless], and five were wise [far-sighted, practical, and sensible]. For when the foolish took their lamps, they did not take any [extra] oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil along with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom was delayed, they all began to nod off, and they fell asleep But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look! The bridegroom [is coming]! Go out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins got up and put their own lamps in order [trimmed the wicks and added oil and lit them]. But the foolish virgins said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ But the wise replied, ‘No, otherwise there will not be enough for us and for you, too; go instead to the dealers and buy oil for yourselves.’ But while they were going away to buy oil, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut and locked. Later the others also came, and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open [the door] for us.’ But He replied, ‘I assure you and most solemnly say to you, I do not know you [we have no relationship].’ Therefore, be on the alert [be prepared and ready], for you do not know the day nor the hour [when the Son of Man will come] (Matthew 25:1-13).
