Spiritual strongholds are habitual patterns of thought. They may be negative or positive. As Christians we are admonished to renew our minds daily. Daily renewing the mind in God's Word helps build up positive strongholds; fortifying the mind against demonic attacks. It also helps tear down any negative strongholds. We have the knowledge and power to change our spiritual thought patterns, if we will.
Its All In Your Mind
The mind is a beautiful and terrible thing. We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). While our minds wonder autonomously, they have the power to focus at will. The mind can keep us in a depressive loop, or empower us to experience perpetual joy. God said let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). We have the power to demolish every argument and pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we can take into captivity every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Change Your Thoughts Change Your Life
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Think soberly, be fervent in spirit, patient in tribulation, and remain constant in prayer (Romans 12). Serve the Lord with gladness. You may not escape negative thoughts from entering your mind, but, by and through God's Word, they shall no longer take up residence.
