What Do You Do When The Truth Hurts You?

Ever hear the statement 'you can't handle the truth' or 'the truth hurts'? Well, what do you do when the truth hurts you? Can you handle it? What if the truth was about the fact that you need to make a change in your life because you are a sinner on a downward spiral to hell. Would you be able to handle that truth. Would you own it? When the truth hurts you, it is because you have been living a lie. Now is the time to handle the truth.

Handling The Truth When It Hurts

Handling the truth means that you'd have to understand and own up to why the truth hurts. The truth usually hurts when you have been living a lie. Don't deny it, don't run from it, but own it. If you are a believer, or someone seeking to know God and His Truth, and are reading the Word of God (Holy Bible), you must know that God's Word is a two edged sword. "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). God knows you. His promise is to save the sinner upon repentance. Make the U-turn. "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

Examine Yourself

"Put yourselves to the test and judge yourselves, to find out whether you are living in faith. Surely you know that Christ Jesus is in you?--unless you have completely failed (2 Corinthians 13:5). Once you have owned up to the truth about your living a lie, repent, confess, ask God to forgive you and move forward. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Get To Know The Truth. Jesus is The Way The Truth, and The Life (John 14:6).
