Treasure is defined as a collection of precious things, such as money, jewels, or precious metals; wealth. Treasures such as these may be stored up, hoarded, even buried. They are of great value to the one who holds them. Those treasures, however may be stolen. Where is your treasure?
Where Is Your Treasure?
A man's aim determines his character. If one's aim is not bound to heaven, his faculties and the principles of his nature will become a mass of darkness. His mind will always be on his money/things, and his money/things will always be on his mind. It will be impossible for him to think heavenward.
Treasure Your Soul
"The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (Mathew 6:22-24).
Man's soul purpose is to devote himself to God, which keeps him full of light. If man lusts after material things, his spirit will be in a constant state of stress, worry, anxiety; darkness. It is impossible to give a divided allegiance.
Treasures In Heaven
"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also(Mathew 6:19-21).
Everything on earth is temporal.
