In times past, people were lead to believe that similar appearances meant there was unity or togetherness. From generation to generation the ideology of togetherness, from that point of view, was held in the highest honor. However, there are obvious differences that oppose the theory. Differences like community traditions and differing cultural interpretations, which often get in the way of unity and togetherness. But what does the Bible say about the matter?
Our communities are not islands. Whatever effects one community effects all communities sooner or later. "So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others (Romans 12:5).We are better together. If we continue to isolate ourselves, we will surely die. There is no growth in isolation. "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he fall; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).
