Separation

February 19, 2019

To be separated from a loved one is difficult to bear. Separation, for any reason, can create a gap, hole, even a rent in the heart of a loved one so deep that the damage may be almost beyond repair. Repeated episodes of sudden feelings of intense anxiety from separation causes many complications.

Complications

Anxiety is the body's normal reaction to stress, however excessive anxiety may cause complications -  especially in small children. Complications to anxiety may include, but are not limited to, major distress, problems functioning in social situations, work or school, panic attacks, phobias, and depression. Recurrent and excessive distress about anticipating or being away from home or loved ones, or constant and or excessive worry about losing a parent or other loved one may cause nightmares. One must be observant because anxieties are often hard to express, especially in children. Don't ever disregard your feelings, or ignore the signs of withdrawal and the constant wanting to be alone.

Speak To Someone

Don't keep the feelings to yourself. Talk to a family member, friend, or clergy. If need be, talk to a Doctor. Remember to never go it alone. And, always remember "..we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:15-16).
