We Are What We Eat!

We are all aware of what an unhealthy diet does to the body, but what are we feeding our spirits? We are what we eat! Our bodies are meant to carry us to and from place to place without restrictions. However, restrictions come through sickness and disease, which are often caused by what we put into them. Our bodies suffer from chronic illnesses such as diabetes, arthritis, spinal stenosis , high cholesterol from the amount of saturated fats etc. Not always, but often related to what we are eating. But, what about our spirits? Our spirits are designed by God to take us to and from green pastures by the Shepherd with Who there is no lack forever (Psalm 23). However, we must feed the spirit spiritual things. We are what we eat!

Be Careful Of The Leaven

Just as we must be careful of what we put into our bodies, we have to be careful what we allow into our spirits. Our choices matter. Some boundaries should not be crossed. As the waters have boundaries that God set for them not to cross, or else the whole earth would be covered by it (Psalm 104:5-9), we also have boundaries and principles that God put in place for us in order to protect our spirits. Man must obey God's ordinances, and guard his soul from corruption. Corruption corrupts our belief system. "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump (Galatians 5:9). Leaven dulls man's spirit to the point where he has no moral or ethical values. It is up to us what we choose to feed on. Whichever the choice, it will determine our path. Rebellion against God is self-destruction. Obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). We are what we eat!

"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself (Daniel 1:8).

We are what we eat. Keep yourselves un-defiled by the world's dainties.
