Joy is defined as a high degree of gratification; an emotion evoked by well-being, success, good fortune, or by the prospect of possessing what one desires. Mourning is an outward expression of grief; deep sorrow. People mourn for various reasons including, death of a loved one, end of a relationship, loss of financial security, or shelter. The mourning period may be long or short, it all depends on the person. The title in question refers to the death of a loved one. Can one experience Joy in the mourning?
The Home Going
When we lose a loved one we may experience one, or several emotions at once: fear, grief, anxiety, anger, resentment, confusion, even Joy. Which, is a response to how we may have treated our loved one and or vise verse. Whatever the emotion, God is just to forgive, and willing to comfort. "For his anger endure but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy come in the morning (Psalm 30:5). Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted (Mathew 5:4).
Joy Does Come In The Mourning
